Hyundai . Proper Way to Wax a Black CarWaxing your car adds a layer of protection between the paint finish and the elements that can damage it. Waxing properly can keep small scratches and swirl marks from appearing on your car. Black cars are especially difficult to clean and wax properly because the dark paint shows every imperfection. Swirls and scratches are in the clearcoat on top of the paint, causing them to reflect light, which shows up extremely well on top of the black paint. Clean Clean the car thoroughly with car wash soap and a new, soft sponge. Begin by rinsing the car with water, loosening and removing as much dirt and grime as possible. Always use a new sponge on a black car. Old sponges may have dirt or debris on them and can be wiped over the car, causing light scratches. Rinse all soap off the car and dry it with a synthetic chamois cloth to prevent water spots. Water spots dry with a light-colored ring, making them show up disturbingly well on a black car. After the car is dried, use a clay bar and lubricant to remove all embedded metal particles from the surface. These particles can cause rust or scratches over time. A clay bar is the only means of removal. Spray a small area with clay lubricant and rub the clay bar back and forth. Spray with lubricant again and wipe the area with a clean microfiber cloth. Repeat this step over the entire painted surface of the car. The clay bar can be folded and worked around so that only clean areas of it touch the car. Polish Polishing a car provides a glossy shine and removes light surface scratches and swirls, which are a problem on black cars. Use a mild to medium abrasive liquid car polish and a dual action orbital polisher. Apply the polish to the car's surface and work the polisher in small, circular and back and forth motions. Wax does not make a car shine, it only adds protection. The car must be polished to get an impressive shine before waxing. Wax Use only pure carnuba wax on your black car. Pure carnuba wax is the best wax to use because of its simple ingredients and lack of superfluous materials. Don't use wax kits or other types of commercially available waxes since they will just build up and cause faded areas on your black car. Apply the wax with a damp sponge and in a thin layer, only allowing it to sit on the car for five minutes or less. Use a new, dry 100 percent cotton cloth to buff the wax away by hand. You may use two thin layers of wax for extra protection.
Hyundai . Best Ways to Wax a CarWaxing a car protects the painted surface from the sun, rain and other harmful elements. One thing waxing does not do is make your car shiny. Most cars do look better after being waxed, but that is because it was washed before being waxed. You can take a few steps to get the most out of waxing a car. Washing The best wax job begins with a great wash for your car. Park the car in the shade so sunlight doesn't heat the surface. Use car wash soap, a soft sponge and a water hose with no nozzle. High pressure sprayers can be used, but can damage the paint. Wash every part of the car, starting at the roof and working your way down. Wash the bumpers and lower edges of the car after washing the main areas. Wash the rims and tires last. These areas are the dirtiest and will need to be washed, rinsed and washed again to make sure all dirt is removed. After washing and rinsing the car, dry it with a synthetic chamois cloth. This prevents water spots from forming and causing oxidation later. Before Waxing Most people apply the wax after the car is dry. This is not the best way to wax a car. You must first remove all small metal particles that cannot be removed by washing alone. Use a clay bar kit to completely clean all contaminants from the metal and get the cleanest surface possible before waxing. A clay bar kit comes with a clay bar and clay lubricant. Spray the lubricant on a small area then rub the clay bar back and forth across the wet surface. The clay bar picks up any particles that may be stuck in the painted surface. You can fold and reshape the clay bar to keep only clean areas exposed to the car's surface. Spray the area again and wipe it with a microfiber cloth. Move to another area until the entire car has been rubbed with the clay bar. Polish the car with a mildly abrasive car polish. Use a dual action orbital polisher, moving in small circular and back and forth motions. This mildly removes faded areas of paint (even ones you didn't notice) and gives the car a bright shine. Polish all painted areas. Waxing Apply a thin coat of pure carnuba wax. Don't use any special wax systems or wax kits. Nothing works better than plain pure carnuba wax. Apply a thin coat of carnuba wax with a damp sponge. Allow the wax to sit for about five minutes and then buff it off by hand with a soft, dry 100% cotton cloth. Don't let the wax sit on the surface for longer than five minutes. You may have to do small areas at a time and never allow the wax to sit in the sun on the car. This causes the wax to become dry and not protect the car like it should. Also, never wax in very hot or very cold weather. This causes the wax to dry, or not dry, properly.
